THE CONCEPT

As a society, we often look forward and into the future when we think of innovation. We are constantly asking how technological advancements can help us push boundaries.

Generative art, for example, relies on coding, data, and artificial intelligence to produce semi-random results that are bounded by specific constraints chosen by the creator. In this study I do not look into the future or at technology, but rather at my surrounding environment.

While generative art usually focuses on the relationship between the artist and an autonomous machine, I investigate the relationship between artist and nature.

With nature as a design tool, I will explore how it can contribute to my design process if I, the creator, set the rules but not the boundaries.

This project takes the form of a forty page book; A multilayered study in both layout design, and a deeper exploration of my personal experimentations as a designer. This book is a chunk of my soul; a recorded process of my venture to relinquish control, to be more in tune with my surroundings, to disrupt my conventional process, and to be present and child-like in my experimentation with nature by my side.
